York

It's the last day of our road trip, and we are in the beautiful historic town of York!

We visited the Shambles (the first photo of the higglety-pigglety street), the York Minster, The National Rail Museum (a bit too dark for photos but an amazing place!!) and plenty of pretty parks! And we discovered the squirrels in this town are ultra friendly!!

It's such a lovely place, and although there was a massive thunder storm in the afternoon, we've had a great day of exploring!

Tomorrow we leave on the long journey back to London, but will hopefully stop off at a nice town along the way!

Goodnight!

Liverpool

George Harrison's childhood home
Paul McCartney's childhood homeRingo Starr's childhood home
John Lennon's childhood home
Today we took the very winding road through Snowdonia National Park in Wales and over the border to Liverpool, England.

The main purpose of visiting Liverpool was to explore the home town of one of our favourite bands - the Beatles! We started off the day with the 'Magical Mystery Tour,' where we traveled around in a vintage bus and visited the homes and schools of the Beatles, Strawberry Fields, Penny Lane, and the famous Cavern Club where the Beatles played 292 shows!

We were both surprised at how lovely the city was, and how green it is! The tour guide said it had the most green space of all the cities in the UK (outside of London)! The shopping seems brilliant, there are so many amazing old buildings (a lot of Greek and Roman style architecture) and a lovely waterside precinct full of restaurants and bars, and of course Beatles memorabillia!

After a long day, we found a great English pub and had a HUGE sunday roast - delicious! Now we are resting our very tired legs for another big day tomorrow in York!

Goodnight!

Aberdyfi

Today we drove three hours north to the beautiful seaside town of Aberdyfi (Aberdovey in English!) in Wales. The whole three hour journey was the most scenic we've ever experienced! The last picture is pretty much all we saw the whole way!

We spent the warm, sunny day exploring the little town and soaking up some much needed rays! We're staying above a pub (that lovely tudor style building in the photo - built in 1729!) and have the most amazing views from our room! We're about to have fish and chips for dinner on the beach, and get ready for an early drive to Liverpool tomorrow!

Bye!

Cardiff

Today we drove over the Severn Bridge between England and Wales and arrived in Cardiff, the Welsh capital. Immediately we were surrounded by green pastures and lots of stone buildings!

Unbeknown to us, there is an Oasis concert on tonight and 60, 000 people are here for the show!! Let's just say it's been a busy day!!

We spent the day exploring Cardiff, Newport (where we had to stay as EVERYWHERE in Cardiff was booked out - we now know why!), and about three hours aimlessly driving hoping to find somewhere pretty and Welsh - but unfortunately not really succeeding.

We had an amazing, extremely American dinner (Jimmy later found out that the owner of the restaurant was indeed American) and are now planning our big journey tomorrow to the North of Wales.

Night!!

Bath

Today we left on our road trip!! Our first challenge was driving out of London (Jimmy did very well!) and our second challenge was finding our hotel in Bristol. I'm sure we did about four laps of the city centre before turning randomly and finally finding it! Why are there no street signs in Bristol?

Once we checked in, we got back in the car and traveled 10 miles to the amazing town of Bath. It is officially our favourite place in England so far - so beautiful!! The Roman architecture with rolling green hills in the background, the gorgeous markets, cafes, boutiques, museums - unreal!

After exploring the town, we headed back to Bristol and had good old pies and mash!! One was beef and chorizo, the other sweet potato and goat's cheese - delicious!!

Tomorrow we are leaving for Wales!

Night,
