The Colosseum and the World's Most Expensive Icecream!

Well we finally made it to the Colosseum, in between very heavy showers! It was incredible! There was a massive protest going on in the area though - aparently it was Alitalia staff who have been protesting for four days opposed to a takeover by Italian businessmen. There were 'Polizia' everywhere!

We then decided to take a break and have a delicious Italian icecream. I told Jimmy to get us two very small cones as I found us a table. But Jimmy, being the trusting man he is, opted to get a HUGE waffle cone with three scoops of icecream. I was waving in the background saying 'No more scoops!!' but he just assumed that because the man was offering him more, it was all included in the price.

When he came back to the table with these giant cones, we knew the bill wasn't going to be pleasant. We've been so tight with our money (We're travelling for 3 months without work!) so we waited anxiously for the bill. And we were right to be anxious - it came to $33 Australian!!!! For two icecreams!! Argh! Needless to say we are eating left over pizza from last night for dinner tonight!!

Tomorrow we leave for Venice! There will be no more Italian icecream from now on!

Ciao!
